3. The draft of the new American Institute of Steel Construction Certification Standard (AISC 207) is now available. The new version of the standard (AISC 207) is expected to be published in early 2024 and will replace the old American Institute of Steel Construction certification standard (AISC 207-20).
4. On January 2023, 1, the American Steel Construction Association held a seminar on "Verification of Computer Analysis Results". Understanding how to use structural engineering analysis and design software is a must-have skill for all engineers. This webinar introduces simple ways to validate computer-generated analysis and design, including limitations of computer analysis and examples of common problems associated with such analysis. The instructor is Clifford Schwinger, a graduate of Lehigh University in 19 and has more than 1976 years of experience in building structure design on the American Steel Construction Association's Standards Committee.
5. Recently, the National Bridge Alliance issued the Reference Guide for Uncoated Weathering Steels. Uncoated weathering steel has anti-corrosion function and does not require any coating, so the installation speed is fast, which shortens the construction schedule. Uncoated weathering steels are environmentally friendly by reducing the release of organic compounds into the atmosphere. With the application of uncoated weathering steel in bridges, its good properties have been continuously verified in many studies. The Reference Guide for Uncoated Weathering Steels contains design recommendations, structural design, maintenance and other valuable references.
6. Recently, the American Steel Construction Association and the National Steel and Bridge Alliance expressed support and approval for the Biden administration's new policy that all building materials used in federal government projects are made in the United States. There are nearly 1000,600 steel structure manufacturers in the United States, and the national steel structure output exceeds <> million tons. The American Steel Construction Association said that U.S. building materials have the ability to provide security for U.S. steel bridges, buildings and steel-intensive critical infrastructure projects.
7. Recently, the American Iron and Steel Institute Standards Committee formed a new group to develop energy standards for the building envelope. The group is responsible for the ongoing development of AISI S250, the North American standard for heat transfer for cold-formed steel frame building envelopes. The new Energy Standards Committee is administratively overseen by the Standards Committee of the American Iron and Steel Institute. The first meeting of the Committee will be held on March 2023, 3.
8. Registration for the 2023 North American Steel Structure Conference (NASCC), scheduled to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, April 4-12, 14 is now open. The conference is the annual meeting of the steel structure industry in North America, involving the latest steel structure design concepts, construction technology and cutting-edge scientific research results. In addition, exhibitions will be held simultaneously during the conference to provide a platform for participants to communicate and exchange.
9. At present, the American Steel Construction Association is selecting the fifth annual "Forge" Award entries. Established in 2018 by the American Society of Steel Construction, the award recognizes emerging architects who are engaged in innovative applications of steel structures and increase the speed of project construction. The winner will receive $1,4 and will present its winning project at the North American Steel Structure Conference in April.
10. Recently, the American Steel Construction Association announced the 2023 "Steel Structure Engineering and Architecture Innovation Design Award" (IDEAS²) winning projects. The award recognizes projects that apply steel structures in innovative ways. Winners will be invited to attend the North American Steel Structure Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, April 4-12.
11. Recently, the American Steel Construction Association issued a new version of the Steel Building Code (ANSI/AISC 360-22). The first edition of the code was published in 1923, and a century later, upgraded versions of the code continue to provide designers, manufacturers, and builders with safe, efficient, durable, and economical standards for steel construction. The new standard combines the latest collaboration between the American Steel Construction Association's Code Committee and the Standards Implementation Code Committee.
12. On January 2023, 1, the British Stainless Steel Association held the "Stainless Steel Beginner's Guide" online training course, with a total of 19 hours. The main contents include: stainless steel types and grades, stainless steel production, mechanical properties, corrosion properties, sustainability. The participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the production, use and performance of stainless steel.
13. On January 2023, 1, the British Stainless Steel Association held a webinar on "Exploring Automation Opportunities in the Stainless Steel Industry". An in-depth look at the key challenges facing the stainless steel industry, namely how to improve product quality and further increase productivity with the help of robotics and automation. The course brings together automation experience from a wide range of companies, from SMEs to Fortune 31 companies. This webinar is designed to help stainless steel manufacturers understand the latest advances in robotics and automation and how to apply them for the best return on investment.
